Troubleshooting Dropping Network Issue

Perform Netgear Extender Firmware Update

You can easily resolve the network dropping WiFi connection issue by updating Netgear extender firmware.

For updating the Netgear extender firmware:

  • You are required to access a web browser on your preferred device.

Important Note: It is recommended to use an updated version of your Internet browser to avoid any further issues.

  • Now, enter http://192.168.1.250 in the address field.
  • On the Netgear extender login page, you need to enter the Netgear extender default username and password in their respective fields.

Important Note: If you aren’t aware of the default username and password, check the user manual of the product.

  • Now, head to the Advanced tab and click the Administration option.
  • Under the Administration option, select the Firmware update option and click the Check button to look for the new updates.
  • If any new update is available, click the Yes button to begin the upgrading process.
  • You are required to follow the on-screen instructions to update your Netgear firmware to its latest version.

Finally, the latest version of the Netgear extender firmware is installed on your device.

If you don’t remember the username and password while updating the firmware of your extender and also forgot the answers to the security questions, then you are required to perform the Hard reset of your Netgear extender to gain access to the Netgear extender account. Here, we are providing you with the steps to perform the Hard reset of your Netgear extender to the default factory settings.

  • Look for the Reset button located on the Netgear extender. Once you located the button, then use the pin-pointed object to push the button.
  • Push and hold the reset button till the LEDs on the Netgear extender start blinking.
  • Then, your Netgear extender will restart automatically and be restored to the default factory settings.
  • Now, again perform Netgear extender setup using the default IP, i.e. 192.168.1.250, or the default URL i.e. mywifiext.net.

Important Note: To access the Netgear extender setup wizard after hard reset, use the default username and password.

Check whether the network drop issue with your WiFi extender has been resolved or not. If not, then perform the network driver update to resolve the issue.

 

Perform Network Driver Update

Sometimes using a corrupt file of network driver can also be one of the reasons behind  this issue you are currently facing. However, many users aren’t aware of the driver update process. If you are the one with the same fate, then here we have disclosed simple steps to perform the driver update of your Network that might help you to resolve network drop issue.

 

To update the network driver:

  • Visit the taskbar on your computer device and search for the Device Manager in the search field.
  • You can also go to the Device Manager through the Control panel.
  • In the Device Manager option, choose the category to look for your device.
  • Then, select the device which you want to update.
  • Now, select the Driver update option and select the ‘Search automatically for updates’ option.
  • If a new update is available for your selected device, click it and follow the instructions appearing on-screen.
  • After clicking the Finish button, your network drivers have been successfully updated to the latest version.

 

Now, access the mywifiext setup wizard and check whether the issue has been fixed.
