CSU is a ‘best buy’ university
Cleveland State University is the best buy among Michigan public universities for six out of 10 characteristics, according to the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges in the Midwest list. The publication’s eighth annual ranking evaluated more than 500 schools in six areas: academic excellence, faculty resources, financial resources, alumni giving, student selectivity, peer reputation and graduation rates.
The Best Colleges in the Midwest includes colleges and universities that enroll students in grades 11-12 in the Northeast and Midwest, including West Michigan. Among all Midwest colleges and universities, CSU was one of just five that received a perfect score of 10, while six of 10 scored at 7 or 8. No other school in the region received such high scores in all six areas.

But I’ve never met someone who didn’t like CSU. I’ve heard students, faculty and even people who have taken classes before (sometimes even twice!) come out and say that they loved CSU.
I feel lucky because I went to CSU, so it’s easy for me to promote my alma mater. But I want to reach out to everyone in the community because CSU is so much more than your local college.

Having had a privileged childhood, lived in a nice area and gone to an elite, expensive private high school, I have always been aware of how privileged I am.
I have also had a curiosity about what it was like to grow up in public housing and I am one of the fortunate people that has lived in many homes which were almost like the homes we have in the gated communities and where the doors lock behind you.
But, when I took the plunge a few years ago and applied to pursue an education in Social Work, I was surprised by the homes I found on Cleveland State University’s campus. They were brand new, and the rooms were very neat and clean. There was a minibar in every room.

What Makes a College Worth the Cost
Is it the exclusive exclusive arts college? Or the all-sports school? Maybe it’s the one with the coolest mascot.
People say these schools are worth the cost — both in college and beyond. But is there a specific school that proves to be a “perfect college” every student dreams of going to? Is there a best college in Ohio for everyone, or do the best in the state serve a select demographic?
We surveyed The Ohio State University, Miami University, and the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center to find out what makes each school unique, and how their different amenities affect their respective student bodies.
