It is recommended that we get regular activity in order to stay healthy and to help maintain a healthy weight. Not all of us have gym memberships or the time to spend at the local gymnasium, and we need to be a little more creative on how to get in that regular activity.

Here are five ways to burn 100 calories.

Walk one mile.

Walking is one of the easiest ways to get activity. It is easy on the body; it is cheap; and you can do it anywhere. Even in bad weather, you can take a few laps around the local mall.

Biking four miles.

You remember the bike. It brought loads of fun as a kid, and can still be fun as an adult. So, dust off your bike and go for a ride. If you live in an area in the which the climate does not allow frequent bike riding, go out and purchase yourself a stationary bike.

The more muscular you have on your body, the more calories you may burn even while you’re at rest, so doing exercises that assist you retain muscle mass is critical. The quicker you cycle, either at a faster pace or with extra inclines, the faster you can burn 100 calories, but even at a moderate pace, you can burn 100 calories in 30 minutes or less.

Washing windows and floors for thirty minutes.

That’s right, housework can count on regular activity. While you are busy burning calories, your floors and windows are becoming bright and shiny. You will also tone your arms and legs by bending and scrubbing.

Walking the stairs for ten minutes.

You do not even need to leave the house if you have stairs to exercise. Set your timer and go up and down for just ten minutes to burn 100 calories. You can strengthen your quad muscles and tighten your buttocks. Heck, make it twenty minutes, and burn 200 calories.

If you don’t have easy access to stairs, you can also use the gym’s stair climber. You may be accustomed to hopping on the treadmill, but studies show that taking the stairs rather than walking can help increase your V02 max. The greater your V02 max, the greater the amount of energy you can expend, resulting in a higher calorie burn.

Shoot some hoops for twenty minutes.

Now we know games last longer than twenty minutes, so you are sure to burn more than 100 calories. And what a fun way to do it. So, pick up your basketball, grab your children, and play a game of Horse.

Play Ping Pong

When was the last time you picked up a ping pong paddle and played? You will burn approximately 100 calories if you play for only 20 minutes. You’ll also improve your hand-eye coordination. Choose a skilled opponent and you’ll burn even more calories; a vigorous game of table tennis can be a strenuous aerobic workout. Visit a table tennis club for a fun date night or a night out with friends.

Jump Rope

Jump rope if you’re serious about losing weight and burning calories quickly. You only need seven minutes of jumping to burn 100 calories. At the same time, you’ll improve your coordination and build strength in your lower legs

Can’t jump for seven minutes straight? Gradually work your way up to it. Keep a jump rope in your house so you can do it in your living room, driveway, or yard—anywhere there is enough space. Keep one in your car for jumping rope at the park.

As you can plainly see, it is not that difficult to burn 100 calories. You can make it fun; you can strengthen and tone your muscles; you can improve your overall health, and feel better about yourself. You can even look better, too. It is just a matter of finding the time and deciding what you want to do. If you think it would help, find yourself a buddy to help keep you on schedule and keep you motivated. Then, you can walk, bike, clean, step, and shoot your way to a slimmer, healthier you.
