Have you ever dreamed of cruising in a luxurious suite? I did too! And recently, my dream came true. I had the incredible opportunity to experience the elegant suite on the luxurious Mon Cheri cruise ship to Lan Ha Bay. In this blog post, I will take you on a virtual tour of my first time cruising and share my thoughts on the experience.
How I came across Mon Cheri Cruise
I stumbled upon Mon Cheri Cruise while searching for the perfect luxury getaway on Tripadvisor. Its stunning reviews and beautiful photos caught my eye. Intrigued, I dug deeper and was captivated by its elegant suites and 5-star services. After comparing different sites, I chose to book the Mon Cheri Halong Bay cruise at Bestprice Travel. With only US $164/pax, I was ready for a trip to the natural wonder in an Ocean Suite Balcony.

What a Spacious Cabin
Launched in 2019, the Mon Cheri Cruise has 24 cabins and is categorized into 5 types. My Ocean Suite Balcony has an area of 35m2 and is adorned with warm wooden tones and plush furnishings, giving it a cozy yet upscale feel. The suite features everything you could need for a luxurious stay. Especially, there is a 2m x 2m king-sized bed with premium linens that will make you fall asleep immediately after stressful days. If you are going in a couple or a 3-person family, this room will be a perfect choice.
Despite the modernity and convenience, the real star here is the private balcony. You can sightsee the bay’s iconic limestone karsts while enjoying your sips privately. The downside of the Ocean Suite Balcony, however, is having no bathtub. It made me feel quite cold and spacious for a normal en-suite bathroom with a shower only. Also, the soundproofing is quite bad, which disturbed me in the morning due to the gym practice noise.
The Elegance Suite, Elegance Family, Mon Chéri Suite, and President Suite have space ranging from 40 – 90m2. Unlike the Ocean Suite, they all have a bathtub and some even have a private terrace. These cabins are also equipped with more modern facilities, like massage chairs, to satisfy the luxurious travelers better. Depending on your standard and budget, you can choose other suites to fit your needs.

What makes Mon Cheri standout
Diverse amenities onboard
Not only the suite but also the modern facilities here really impressed me. The first place that must be mentioned is the infinity pool. Located on the upper deck, this open-air Jacuzzi offers stunning panoramic views of the bay while you unwind in warm, bubbling water. Besides, there is a mini golf yard with a spectacular 360-degree bay view for you and your loved ones to enjoy tee time. Alternatively, you can get some morning exercises at the gym which includes treadmills, dumbbells, and barbells.
To get rid of daily stress, have yourself an hour of massage therapy or a soothing steam bath at the spa. You can also have some late-night conversations and take in the ocean views at the bar. Regarding drinks, you may try premium wines or cocktails at a price of about US $9 per glass.
Flavorsome cuisine
Now, if you’re a foodie, the cruise’s food is a delightful experience. The chefs take local ingredients and craft exquisite dishes that bring together both Asian and Western food. As I am I am a vegan, the cruise manager took special care of my diet and menu without any charge. If you are an Islamic tourist with food taboos, the boat will also provide a special Halal menu. What makes Mon Cheri so special is that it is the only cruise that has the Halal food certificate.

Interesting excursion
The highlight of my Halong Bay trip must be exciting activities. I kayaked around the serene area of Tra Bau in the afternoon of the first day. In an hour, I glided on the emerald water surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and lush vegetation. After an energetic day, we had an evening learning how to make fresh spring food – an iconic Vietnamese dish.
On the second day, I started my morning with some warm-up exercises in the Tai Chi class. Then, I have a visit to a famous cave called Trung Trang Cave. Here I was overwhelmed by the charm of stalactites and stalagmites while listening to legends and myths of the caves. If you are taking a 3-day-2-night tour, you will even have a scenic biking route in Viet Hai Village to enjoy from coastal mountains to tropical greenery.
The visit to Trung Trang Cave gave me a deep insight into the history of Cat Ba Island.
Cruising on the Mon Cheri was an unforgettable experience for me. The spacious cabin, luxurious amenities, and stunning ocean views made it a truly indulgent getaway. If you are planning to travel to Vietnam, you must take a Lan Ha Bay tour to enjoy picturesque landscapes and 5-star services.
