How to Reduce The Effects of Cannabis: 7 Techniques to Try

First and foremost, don’t take more, and don’t drink caffeine!

If you are someone that is heavily affected by cannabis for no other reason than you are just sensitive, your first puff to your last can sometimes be a scary experience!  It’s one of the reasons that many first-timers are encouraged to have a high guide with them that can watch them just in case things get out of hand.

Now, those out there who are more seasoned in the ways of weed, might also find a strain that takes you from vibing and chilling to sitting in a corner thinking that you are a stalk of corn.

No matter your experience level, here are some tried and true ways to manage your high just in case something pops up or your high gets out of hand.

1. Eat Something

For the love of all that is good, eat something!  Not all cannabis is going to give you the munchies, in fact some strains are known to dampen your appetite and can be used for different eating disorders.

This is why you have to be extra careful: if you don’t eat before your smoke sesh, then make sure you have well-balanced snacks available to you.  You want foods that are high in protein, have healthy fats, and a few carbohydrates to balance out your body.

2. Drink Water or Electrolytes

Dry mouth.  If you have partaken of the bud, then you know this feeling.  It can get incredibly uncomfortable so keep a bottle of water nearby.  Something that can also help reduce your high is electrolytes.  Any sports drink will work and if you have hibiscus leaves, you can make an easy electrolyte filled tea that can also help.

3. Use HIBEGONE

If you need the effects of cannabis gone in around fifteen minutes, or at least manageable, then you have got to try out HIBEGONE.  They sell single shots or packs if you want to try them and they help reduce the effects by adding in natural THC blockers.

4. Do an At-home Workout

The part of our body that uses cannabis is known as the endocannabinoid system.  This system relates to several aspects of human function, especially the ability to stay in homeostasis.  Part of keeping your body in that state of equilibrium is managing your temperature and heart rate.

Want to get that high down quick? Try out a few home workouts that are at least thirty minutes long and raise your heartrate into a healthy workout zone for your body type.  This will cause you to sweat out some of the THC as well as force your body to use the endocannabinoid system.

5. Grab a Lemon or Peppercorns

Limonene from lemons and piperine from peppercorns are thought to antagonize or work against THC and it’s psychoactive effects.  Rather than stopping the physical and mental assistance that THC provides, these two substances can help reduce the high and not the help.  Make yourself some lemon tea or crunch on some peppercorns!

6. Try Using CBD to Calm the Effects

While this is not a solution I have personally tried, I can tell you that taking CBD and THC at the same time often has a lower rate of uncontrollable highs.  The reason is that most THC/CBD combinations have a higher CBD content since CBD is used more heavily in the endocannabinoid system.

Because CBD is more readily used in the body, it can block the euphoric results of taking THC.  Just like THC though, it can take up to three or four hours to feel the effects of CBD.

By that time, your high is probably already coming down.  Something that might help more is taking CBD prior to trying out a new strain or new gummies.  That way, if the gummies are too strong, the CBD is already there to help out.

7. Take a Nap

I know, I know.  It sounds stupid.  You are high off the walls, freaking out or just trying to move and the seventh technique is to sleep.  Well, here’s the truth of it: you may knock out for thirty minutes and wake up with no effects, or you may sleep for a few hours and wake up without a high.  Either way, the effects are going to be greatly reduced because you are asleep.

Instead of staying awake and suffering through unpleasant side effects, you sleep through them in order to manage them.  It’s not everyone’s favorite way to handle a strong strain, but it has been used time and time again to fight out of control cannabis effects.

Conclusion

Marijuana is one of the best tools that we have at our fingertips in most states.  Strains are bred to help all sorts of physical and mental issues, however that doesn’t mean that there aren’t side effects.  Hopefully these tricks will help you manage those effects and enjoy life.
