Encinitas is a well known beach city that is located in the North County area of San Diego County, California. It is situated approximately 25 miles north of San Diego, between Solana Beach and Carlsbad, and about 95 miles south of Los Angeles. As of the 2020 census, Encinitas had a population of 62,007. The city has a rich history, with the first settlers being the Kumeyaay people. After Mexican independence, the land was granted to Andrés Ybarra in 1842 to build Rancho Las Encinitas, from which the city got its name, which means “little oaks” in Spanish.
