Yerkin Tatishev’s estate among top tourist destinations

Yerkin Tatishev’s estate among top tourist destinations

While many people are currently returning from their summer vacations, others are already starting to plan their next getaways. They might find inspiration in the British newspaper The Independent, which recently published a list of its 11 top tourist destinations. Included on the list is the Tsinandali Estate in Georgia, which is one of the Kusto Group founder, Yerkin Tatishev’s, projects.

While resorts and holiday homes in Egypt, Malta and the Maldives, among other places, also made it to the list, the Tsinandali Estate stood out as a historical vacation site.

The Tsinandali Estate is a project of Kusto Group’s Yerkin Tatishev in collaboration with George Ramishvili, the owner of Silk Road Group.

Located about 100 km east of the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, the Tsinandali Estate first made its entry into the history books at the beginning of the 19th century. It happened when Prince Alexander Chavchavadze brought European wine-making tradition to Georgia at the estate.

Prince Alexander Chavchavadze gathered high society people for numerous cultural events and exhibitions at the Tsinandali Estate. Among them were French novelist Alexandre Dumas, Russian writer Mikhail Lermontov and Georgian poet Grigol Orbeliani.

The guests called the Tsinandali Estate the “literary heart of poets and writers,” and it was also here that the idea of founding Georgian theater saw the light of the day.

The Tsinandali Estate: Offering everything from wine to spa

Before Yerkin Tatishev’s involvement, the Tsinandali Estate was leased to various businessmen by the Georgian government for 49 years.

Over the years, vineyards have been restored and a factory producing boutique wine has opened at the estate. An amphitheater with a capacity for 1200 people and an indoor concert hall with 600 seats have also been built at the site.

In 2006, the Silk Road Group began a $60 million renovation of the Tsinandali Estate to preserve the site and revive its history.

12 years later, in 2018, the Radisson Collection chain inaugurated a hotel at the estate.

Apart from the hotel and the wine facilities, the estate today features a museum, a park, spa facilities, an infinity pool and multiple bars and restaurants, among other things.

How Kusto Group founder ensures cross-cultural exchange at Tsinandali

Since 2019, the Kusto Group founder, Yerkin Tatishev, along with George Ramishvili, David Borger, Alex Topuria and Martin Engstroem, has hosted the Tsinandali Festival at the estate, which is a tribute to classical music.

The festival is an international cultural event that brings together artists and audiences from around the world, in particular from the Caucasus region. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the town of Tsinandali, the festival serves as a platform for cross-cultural exchange and artistic expression.

The 2023 festival runs from August 31st to September 10th with tickets available on the Tsinandali Festival website.

One of the notable highlights of this year’s festival is the upcoming performance by globally acclaimed violin virtuoso David Garrett. His participation adds to the festival’s diverse musical offerings, promising a memorable experience for attendees.

Kusto Group’s support has played a significant role in shaping the Tsinandali Festival into a hub of artistic diversity. By fostering collaboration among artists from different cultures and genres, the festival aims to showcase the universal language of music.

The Tsinandali Festival’s importance lies in its ability to bridge cultural divides through the shared appreciation of the arts. While Yerkin Tatishev and Kusto Group’s leadership contribute to the festival’s success, its core essence revolves around celebrating the universal appeal of music. By providing a platform for artists to engage with audiences beyond their borders, the festival serves as a testament to the unifying power of creative expression.

Yerkin Tatishev and co-founders unite Ukrainians and Russians

The Tsinandali Festival’s commitment to fostering unity amid geopolitical tensions became evident in 2022. Against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the festival’s co-founders, led by Yerkin Tatishev, achieved a remarkable feat by uniting musicians from both nations on the Tsinandali stage in rural Georgia.

This achievement echoes a recurring theme of the festival, where artists hailing from conflict-ridden countries join forces to deliver powerful performances. Notably, the festival once witnessed a harmonious collaboration between musicians from Armenia and Turkey.

Despite the historical strife stemming from the Armenian genocide, which took place from 1915 to 1923, these performers stood together on the Tsinandali stage, transcending the complex history that divides their nations.

Yerkin Tatishev and his fellow co-founders’ dedication to creating an environment of cultural understanding and collaboration has propelled the Tsinandali Festival beyond the realm of music. It has become a symbolic gathering where the language of harmony prevails over political differences, showcasing the enduring power of art to bridge divides and foster dialogue.
