WHAT IS THE IDEAL SCREEN RESOLUTION?

You are not a geek but understand that the screen resolution has a lot to do with the performance that a monitor can provide . Screen resolution, what is it? How to choose the right resolution? We tell you everything.

What is the screen resolution?

Screen resolution is the number of pixels displayed in width and height on a PC monitor or TV . It is the ratio between the definition of the screen panel (OLED, QLED, VA, TN, or IPS) and the size of the screen itself. The higher the resolution, the more space there will be on your desktop. It is therefore important to choose a PC screen with a resolution adapted to its dimensions.

What are the different existing resolutions?

SD resolution (720 x 576 px): Long considered the standard screen resolution, SD is gradually giving way to more efficient formats such as HD.

HD or High Definition resolution (1280 x 720 px): this is the new standard in terms of screen quality. Most of the devices sold on the market are HD screens. The level of quality offered is twice that of SD.

Full HD or FHD resolution (1920 x 1080 px): this is a format very popular with gamers and movie lovers. FHD incorporates more than 2 million pixels per image (twice as much as HD) and produces good image clarity. In addition, FHD screens are sold at very fair prices for the level of quality they offer.

UHD or Ultra HD resolution (3840 x 2160 px): This resolution further doubles the performance of the lower-range model. The images provided have beautiful colors (depending on the panel chosen), are very clear and stable.

4k resolution (3840 x 2160 px): very popular in recent years, 4K produces clear images and very good definition.

5k and 8k resolutions (5120 x 2880 px to (7680 x 4320): uncommon, these formats offer exceptional performance. They are perfect for professionals or gamers who want to split their screen into several parts and work simultaneously with several programs 5k and 8k to enhance the colors and produce a perfect image.

Which resolution for which screen size?

Respecting a good resolution/screen size ratio (the reference unit of measurement is the inch or sometimes the dpi , the point per inch) is very important to obtain sharp images. The distance from a computer expressed in inches is calculated diagonally and not in length and width. Want to get the best display possible?

Also, be sure to choose the following dimensions in order to obtain high visual performance (for a flat screen):

  • 15 inches: 1020 x 768 pixels.
  • 15.4 inches: 1280 x 800 pixels.
  • 17 inches: 1280 x 1024 pixels.
  • 19 inches: 1280×1024 pixels.
  • 20 inches: 1600×1200 pixels.
  • 21 inches: 1680×1050 pixels.
  • 24 inches: 1920×1200 or 2560×1600.

Note that it is possible to choose between several resolutions in the settings of your computer with the majority of CPU models. However, it is advisable to keep the native resolution of the computer screen , ie that indicated on its packaging, its product sheet or its instructions for use. Changing your screen resolution manually may however be necessary for the display of some games.
