In the bathroom
A baker’s rack in the bathroom? It might sound odd, but it is actually a great trend. Particularly, bathrooms decorated in the farmhouse or shabby chic styles should consider this use of a baker’s rack. Depending on the height of the rack, you may be able to get one that fits over your toilet for some added storage that doesn’t take up the already sparse floor space.
In the entryway
Having a small entryway, or having an entry that goes directly into a narrow corridor, can be challenging to decorate. You really want your entryway to be an easy drop off and pick up of items that you need when you leave the house. There are a lot of creative options for making this happen, but one of the most overlooked is the baker’s rack. Baker’s racks have a very narrow profile, making them suitable even for hallways.
In the garden
Although you can’t use all indoor home furniture outdoors, you can use some baker’s racks out in the elements. A really nice baker’s rack in the traditional cast iron design is perfectly suitable for outdoor use. When placed outside, the baker’s rack can hold plants that need some extra care or protection, cooking utensils and supplies for your outdoor kitchen, or a place to store gardening tools and watering cans.
In the bedroom
A baker’s rack is a very affordable piece of furniture, much more so than most vanities. You can use a baker’s rack in the bedroom to take the place of the vanity while still giving the room some character. Baker’s racks have a tendency to blend well with any décor, even in a teen’s bedroom. They usually have a main shelf height similar to that of a vanity, and the open area beneath can easily keep a chair or stool out of the way when not in use.
