Scars are fairly common these days. They can either happen as a regular acne scar or can happen as an after effect of an injury or a surgery when the skin is recovering.
When a scar happens one should not neglect it. Using a scar cream on the affected area can be of great benefits. Apart from that, one can also try on some home remedies which can be quite effective.
Apple Cider Vinegar
One can take a few table spoons of distilled water and mix a table spoon of ACV and then use a cotton ball to apply the mix on the scarred area. This should be kept for a few minutes and then it should be washed away with plain water. One must not forget to moisturise the skin after doing this. It will replenish the skin.
Lavender Essential Oil
Take a few drops of lavender essential oil and mix it with a few table spoons of extra virgin olive oil. Then one needs to massage the mixture on the scar marks for at least 5 minutes. Then leave the oil for half an hour before rinsing it off with plain water.
Honey
One can spread honey on the scar and then cover it with a Band Aid overnight. Then wash off the scar in the morning. This should be done every night till the scar fades away completely.
Coconut Oil
One needs to heat the coconut oil a bit and then massage the scarred area with it for 10 minutes. Then one can rinse it well with plain water.
Lemon or Lime Juice
Keep a fine cloth on the scarred area and then pour a few drops of fresh lime juice on it. Let it sit for a few minutes on the skin and then one can wash it off with plain water. Lemon juice has acidic qualities which can help in removing the dead skin cells along with the scars. It can lessen the redness of the scars as well.
In order to clear the scar marks that are caused by accidents, one needs to roast turmeric powder and mix it with some ghee. Then they need to apply this lather gently on the scarred area with their fingertips. Keep it for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash it away with plain water. This is very effective to fade away the scars.
Another way of removing scar marks in by using baking soda. This is a kind if a natural exfoliator which can scrape the scar tissue layer by layer. Drinking a lot of water can also keep the skin supple and helps the scar marks to fade away in a better manner.
Home remedies are great because they hardly have any side effects on the skin and the body. But sometimes medication is also needed. One can use the best scar cream to remove them or some topical ointments. Sometimes, in case of deep surgical scars one needs oral medications as well. One should contact a dermatologist in this case.
