One of the most iconic structures in the entire world, Taj Mahal is a symbol of love that you won’t want to miss if you’re visiting India any time soon. Commissioned by Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal in 1632, it’s built atop a white marble platform on the banks of Yamuna River by Muslim craftsmen and Hindu artisans. It is one of the best preserved and most beautiful structures in the world, and no wonder it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you’re planning to visit India for any reason, plan your trip so that you can visit Taj Mahal as well.
Niagara Falls – Ontario, Canada
There are many waterfalls around the world – Angel Falls in Venezuela, Yosemite Falls in California and Iguazu Falls in Brazil is just a few examples of spectacular waterfalls you can find on earth. Niagara falls has become such an iconic symbol for North America that it’s only natural to put it into this list. It’s not as tall as its South American counterparts, but its sheer size, breathtaking views and ease of access makes it a popular tourist attraction. Want to get up close and personal with this natural wonder? Hop on the Maid of the Mist, take a boat tour or if you’re feeling adventurous, go for Scary Adventures which is an outdoor adventure that includes traveling down rapids in rubber tubes!
Machu Picchu – Cuzco, Peru
Some of the best places to visit in South America are located on the continent’s largest country, Brazil [1]. While Rio de Janeiro is definitely a must-visit city for its natural beauty and lively nightlife and Sao Paulo is where many of the business happen, Machu Picchu is a truly unique place located on the border of Peru and Ecuador. It’s listed as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, and you can see why if you visit this ancient site.
The Colosseum – Rome, Italy
Rome is a must-visit city for any first time travelers going to Europe. It’s got a long history, which you can check out in any museum there. However if you’re not really into museums and culture, don’t worry – Rome is also home to some of the most famous landmarks in Europe. While there are many other temples, churches and ruins that could make it on this list, the Colosseum is a must-see because it’s one of the best preserved ancient monuments in Rome. It is free to go into and once you’re in, you can see what life was like during Caesar’s reign.
The Great Wall Of China – China
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Great Wall of China stretches all across Northern China. It’s a massive structure that took thousands of laborers and soldiers, as well as hundreds of years to build. The entire length of the wall is over 20,000 km long, so it’s definitely something you can’t miss when traveling China!
Santorini – Greece
There are many islands in Greece, but Santorini is one of the most notable. The island has a lot of history to it – It was one of the earliest cities established in Greece, and was also one of the first locations that Pythagoras went to teach his word. There are many other islands you can go to in Greece as well, so if Santorini doesn’t seem like your cup of tea, you can always visit the others like Corfu and Crete.
Great Barrier Reef – Australia
While it’s not as big as The Great Wall of China, this is actually something that you can see above ground! It stretches over 1,200 km and is considered one of the best natural phenomena in the world. You can enjoy different forms of water sports here as well, such as scuba diving and snorkeling. There are also resorts you can stay at if you’d like to enjoy the beach and relax for awhile after exploring this beautiful wonder.
The Galápagos Islands – Ecuador
Another World Heritage Site is the Galapagos Islands located in Ecuador. The islands were made famous by Charles Darwin and his studies on the wildlife here. There are many tours you can take to enjoy this place, such as diving and snorkeling. This is a great place to go if you’re looking for an adventure!
The Pyramids – Egypt
Perhaps one of the most iconic structures in history, the Pyramids of Giza are definitely a must-visit site for any first time visitor to Egypt. While the iconic Sphinx is right next to it, not many people know that there’s another hidden chamber located in one of the pyramids! You can also take a camel ride if you’d like to see them up close and personal!
Stonehenge – England
Built during the Neolithic Age, Stonehenge is located in Wiltshire, England. It’s another one of those World Heritage Sites that you should visit if you’re into history and culture like me! There are also many theories as to why this structure was built – some say it was a burial ground, while others say it was for rituals. Either way, the mystery is enough to peak your interest and get you to go see it!
The Colosseum
Though there are many temples, buildings and ruins that could be considered “must-visit”, nothing beats The Colosseum when it comes to history and culture. It’s the best preserved ancient monument in Rome (in my opinion) and is free to go in, which is why it makes this list. It’s right next door to The Roman Forum too. Algeria Most Visited Place
Algeria is the tenth-most populous country in the world with a population of 41,500,000. It was established as a French colony in 1834 and given independence on July 5, 1962.
There are many travel activities to choose from!
Airlines in Algeria – There are three different airlines that service the country. Air Algérie is by far the biggest airline in the country, making up 66% of all passenger flights. Compagnie Nationale Air Algérie is second with 19%. You can fly domestically on either Air Algérie or Compagnie Nationale Air Algérie, but to travel internationally you’ll need to find a foreign airline such as Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and Lebanese Middle East Airlines.
There are many different ways to get around!
Buses – Buses in Algeria connect the country from east to west and north to south. Most buses operate from 5:30-11:00 AM and 3:00-8:30 PM and can take you to most large cities in the country.
Taxis – Taxi service is available citywide, though it may be difficult for tourists to find one during busy times such as Friday afternoon prayers or Saturday evenings. The fare for a taxi is usually $2.50, and there are no meters so be sure to agree on the price before getting in!
Taxicabs can be found at most train stations and airports, and will cost around $6-$12 depending on distance and your bargaining skills.
The Swiss Alps Bristol, England
The Swiss Alps are one of my favorite places in the world! You can hike them or ski on top of them, whatever it is that you’re into (I’m all about the skiing). It’s a very fun yet peaceful place to be. And hey, if you’re lucky enough to go there in winter time, then there’s tons of snow! #WinterFun.
