How to add link without using the keywords?

One of the most used resources when making link building strategies is the use of articles that contain one or more links. There is no doubt about the effectiveness of these techniques, someday I will make an article with some examples of success stories. However, it is often overlooked that there are different ways of linking, as well as different types of content use in the generation of articles and depending on which ones we use, the effectiveness will be greater or lesser. Maybe in many cases, we simply need links and that’s it, but there is no doubt that when we compete in crowded markets, we must “hit” our campaigns to be more efficient than the competition.

In this article I will talk about the effectiveness of several types of links in articles based on their content and the type of anchor text that can be used for a link building campaign as effectively as possible. In fact, I also used free seo report generator to compare the effectiveness of my keywords.

This example of “over optimization” is used in my website. My website has lost its first position because of an anchor text excess, when before it was first.

1) Where to locate a link so that it has more strength?

The first experiment shows that the position of a link in an article is a point to take into account in our strategy. In this first experiment, we tried to determine where to locate a link to get more out of it.

The location options of the link were two, in this case: in the first paragraph (anchor text) or as annotation as “source: anchor text” in the final part of a post. The results were clear. The link located in the first paragraph, better positioned the linked page than the one that linked as a “source”.

2) Different ways of locating the keyword to position

The result of the previous experiment was, for many, a truism. However, placing links in the first paragraph of an article may give the appearance of “unnaturalness”. It is therefore one of the reasons why not to abuse such technique. So what options do we have left? Many, but here we will highlight the effectiveness of one in particular: include a generic anchor text of the type “seen here” and add the keyword we want to position in the title of the post.

The effectiveness of this mechanism is more than relevant if you compare (and this has been done in the experiment) with other articles with generic anchor text and without the keyword in the title or even articles with exact anchor text and that do not include the keyword in the title Therefore, it can be concluded that a generic link allows positioning for a certain keyword if it is in the title of the article that links.

3) Semantics and synonyms

In the two previous cases we have used keywords to position a page for those certain keywords (obviously). It is well known, what can cause an excess of keywords in its use. Therefore, I did another experiment to see how to “elude” the use of exact keywords.

The much commented semantics that in many cases is simplified to the use of “synonyms” (which are included within the semantics but do not mean the same thing), can be used to link using “synonyms” or strings of words with semantic value, replacing the Exact anchor text for these conjunctions of words created to avoid damaging our profile of links on a website.

What did I do? I replaced the exact anchor text with a series of words with the same semantic background as the exact keyword. The result, surprising: I managed to position keywords using these semantic techniques, for those pages that were linked with the exact keywords (obviously, how I got the semantic variable is a fundamental fact).

Therefore, the use of semantic variations leads to an optimal positioning. Sometimes better than using an exact text anchor.
